ABOUT UNIVERSITY
Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed To Be University was established under Section (3) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956 on 29th September, 2003 by Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development vide its notification No. F.9-11/2000-U-3. The parent organization - Pravara Medical Trust was established in 1972 in a small remote village Loni situated in Ahmednagar District (Maharashtra State) by a visionary Padmashree Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, the founder of Co-operative movement in India & Padmabhushan Dr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil , Former Union Minister and Distinguished Parliamentarian. In 1976 the Trust started providing primary and secondary level medical care to the remote rural and tribal population of this region, with establishment of a modest hospital of 100 beds - Padmashree Dr Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Pravara Rural Hospital - over a period of time the hospital grew in to 1275 beds multi-disciplinary, superspeciality medical institute with state of art facilities. Currently the hospital treats approximately 1 million cases per year.

- To emerge as an institution of global excellence in dental education and research so as to train general, specialized, allied and supportive professional personnel, to contribute to global dental health care knowledge and skills, provide single window delivery of quality dental health care to rural population and to reach the unreachable with awareness, education and effective services.

- RDC shall harvest quality dental professionals who will have the essence of global proficiency through employing newer but evolving teaching – learning methodology which is learner centrict.
- Shall provide an unrestricted but focused environment for encouraging innovative research work, inspiring multidisciplinary approach and instilling value based education and team spirit.
- Shall promote and support faculty development programs for personal and career advances.
- Shall continue to boost the community oriented extension services to strengthen its’ community liaison.
- Shall continue to ‘serve the underserved’ by strengthening the referral service centers.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences(Deemed to be University) is a culmination of strong commitment to achieve a comprehensive sustainable and people centric development of the rural area by integrating need based research, socially meaningful medical education and holistic health care.
PIMS-DU is located in a spacious and green campus of 115 acres at Loni, which is developed as per the master plan and land scaping, housing all the 6 constituent units and its rural hospital. It has state of the art building blocks for academic and co-academic programmes, multispeciality tertiary medical and dental hospitals as well as residential facility for students and staff in the campus, all within a walkable distance. It is a near cent percent residential campus with all the basic amenities and facilities, round the clock, ensuring a home away from the home. It constitutes a good multispeciality hospital for enriching clinical resource and care, central library, IT facilities, safety, security and discipline. Facilities like a State of the art Auditorium with advanced audio visual aids have been established in campus to conduct various events.
